Veronica Van Horn, PA-C (Ideal Medical, Reno)
Compassion was the leading force in Veronica’s decision to follow a path into medicine, so aptly role modeled to her by her father. Being the oldest of five children often carries expectations. But instead of feeling pressure, Veronica was inspired. She witnessed the practice of medicine through her father’s experience. She saw firsthand the dedication, commitment and hard work that was required. Evidently, the impact was positive as most of her siblings have also pursued a career in medicine.
Veronica carved out her profession as a Physician Assistance (PA-C) by securing a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science at University of Nevada, Reno, completing a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, and graduating from the PA program at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA. Pursuing a PA designation rather than a M.D. degree allowed the freedom and flexibility to have, and be present for, the family she desired, and cherishes today.
Life has granted Veronica a unique perspective. Once put into the position of caregiver for an ailing loved one, she clearly understood the “other side” of the patient-doctor relationship. The patient journey can be complex, confusing, and the mechanisms of disease are often misunderstood. She knows that it is vital to keep people informed in times of uncertainty. Medical practitioners must take time to explain procedures and lab results to ensure understanding. Equally important is listening to patients tell their stories. Veronica believes all of these are integral to achieve ideal outcomes while maintaining respect for everyone involved in the process.
In today’s busy world, Veronica relishes the opportunity to spend time talking with her patients and formulating plans for healing filled with informed hope. Playing a part in helping her patients optimize their health through Advanced Hormone Therapy affirms her decision to join the team at Ideal Medical. It’s what compassionate people do.
