Simpatico! In a very simple explanation, bioidentical hormones are simpatico to our
body’s natural system. They easily get along with each other. The attributes of
bioidentical hormones are compatible and utilized in an easier way than synthetically
derived forms.
The molecular make-up of bioidentical hormones does not require the body to adjust
and accommodate any elements that are foreign to the body. Internally, they bind to
hormone receptors the same way a person’s natural hormones do.
EvexiPEL, the provider of the bioidentical hormone pellets we use at Ideal Medical
Advanced Hormone Therapy says it best,
“Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is a way of replacing the body’s
hormones in the same molecular form that men and women lose production of over
their lifetimes… Since they are derived from nature, plant-based hormones metabolize
in the body, just the way nature intended.”
Additionally, delivering bioidentical hormones via hormone pellets as opposed to shots
and creams is a method that mirrors the body’s way of utilizing hormones. For example,
when a person experiences an event that causes stress that increases blood flow, the
implanted pellets provide a consistent supply of hormone in the blood to draw upon. The
body makes the decision to draw upon the hormones as needed. Whereas, if you’re
giving yourself a hormone injection or using a hormone cream, you’re artificially raising
your levels at the time of application rather than when the body decides it needs them.
There’s an extra added benefit: at Ideal Medical Advanced Hormone Therapy we
recommend natural supplements and extracts that work with the bioidentical hormones to improve the function of free estrogen and free testosterone entering the cells. We’ll
be discussing this process in detail in future blog posts.
The alternative to bioidentical hormones is to use hormones that have been
synthetically manufactured in a lab for the mass market. Unfortunately, manufacturers
of synthetic hormones create them to be slightly different than natural hormones,
specifically to secure patents for financial benefit. This is a common practice because
patents cannot be obtained on natural products. Although a common practice, we
believe a person’s health rather than financial gain should be the absolute priority in any
treatment program.
Sadly, the source used in some hormone products is horse urine taken from horses
repeatedly made to be pregnant. Unfortunately, this controversial practice could easily
be stopped by making the positive choice to use bioidentical hormones. It’s important to
be knowledgeable about how your choices for treatment may be affecting others and
the world.
When it comes to the type of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) a patient chooses,
research has shown that bioidentical hormones were chosen because they are
perceived to be effective, safer than synthetic hormones, tailored to individual needs,
and the method is accompanied by enhanced clinical care and attention.
There continues to be a need for expanded research funding to reinforce the studies
that have revealed that natural hormones may be a safer, more effective alternative to
synthetic hormones. Practitioners have been offering plant-based hormone pellet
therapies since the 1930s. The evidence confirming the valid and reliable beneficial
outcomes of bioidentical hormone replacement therapies will undoubtedly grow, person-
by-person, study-by-study.
